Global Historical Climate Network includes daily land surface observations from around the world. Climate has a profound effect on life in the oceans. Climate-related changes in ocean ecosystems such as warming oceans, increasing acidification, and rising seas can affect the distribution and abundance of marine species and thereby impact the people and communities that depend on them.

Brown Ship and G-IV Aircraft in a Landfalling Atmospheric River over the North Pacific during CalWater}, author = {Neiman, Paul J. and Gaggini, Natalie and Fairall, Christopher W. and Aikins, Joshua and Spackman, J. Ryan and Leung, L. Ruby and Fan, Jiwen and Hardin, Joseph and Nalli, Nicholas R. Today more t volunteers take observations on farms, in urban and suburban areas, national parks, seashores, and mountaintops. The stations where cooperative observers collect weather and climate data truly are representative of where people live, work, and play. Cooperative observer network observation station.

The recently released Fourth National Climate Assessment Volume ll is an extensive scientific assessment of climate change impacts, risks, and adaptation in the United States. The assessment includes climate change impacts on 10 US. regions and 15 sectors including oceans and marine resources, ecosystems, coasts and others.   NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) is the world’s largest active archive of weather data. Each month, observers that are part of the National Weather Service Cooperative Observer Program (COOP) send their land-based meteorological surface observations of temperature and precipitation to NCDC to be added to the U.S. data archives.

NOAA provides timely and authoritative information about climate. We promote public understanding of climate science and climate-related events through videos, stories, images, and data visualizations; we make common data products and services easy to access and use; and we provide tools and resources that help people make informed decisions about climate risks, vulnerability, and.
